【摘要】:ThepurposeofthisInternationalStandardistoestablishthespecificationsfortheInternationalStandardBookNumber(ISBN)asauniqueinternationalidentificationsystemforeachproductformoreditionofamonographicpublicationpublishedorproducedbyaspecificpublisher.ItspecifiestheconstructionofanISBN,therulesforitsassignmentanduse,themetadatatobeassociatedwiththeISBNallocation,andtheadministrationoftheISBNsystem.ThisInternationalStandardisapplicabletomonographicpublications(ortheirindividualsectionsorchapterswherethesearemadeseparatelyavailable)andcertaintypesofrelatedproductsthatareavailabletothepublic.Examplesofapplicableandnon-applicableproductsareprovidedinAnnexA.NOTEMoredetailed,operationalguidanceisprovidedinausers'manualavailablefromtheRegistrationAuthorityforthisInternationalStandard(seeClause8).
